This little
street, rue Eugène Flachat, in the outskirts of the 17th arrondissement, has a
row of amazing “hotel particuliers” (private mansions, townhouses), built
between 1880 and 1895. Built as private homes, most of them are now of course
transformed into offices. The buildings occupy numbers 8 to 34.
One can
notice that the architiect of no. 14 is the same who created the “Petit Palais”
(see previous posts) and coordinated the construction of the “Grand Palais”
(see previous posts), Charles Girault…
… and that the architect of no. 32, Paul
Sedille, also created the department store “Printemps” (see previous post), as often
in close cooperation with the ceramics creator J-P Loebitz.
The “backside”
of the same building can be seen on Boulevard Berthier.
Here are
some other details from the different facades.

Beautiful buildings.
Best regards.
Nice.
Ah, lovely, but how much does one of these hotels particuliers cost to purchase today, I wonder... Probably one of those cases of: If you have to ask, you can't afford it...
But no doubt lovely to live or work in. And as always, you bring us knowledge of Paris that never fails to amaze me...
Turquoise being my favorite color, no. 32 amazes and delights me so much...
I know so little of Paris!
I always thought all the boulevards named after Napoleon's marshals were closer to Etoile...
We all learn so much from you Peter...
This post is so charming!

Beautiful!
En voilà une jolie rue !
Excellent work Peter! I love walking down this street but have always found it almost impossible to photograph. You've done it perfectly though.
Merci pour ce beau post.
Thank you, Peter. I love seeing these buildings with their beautiful and intricate facades.
One of my delights in visiting Paris apart from the architecture was noticing that the buildings have a placque next to the entrance with the names of the designer and the builder. I thought that was very cool.
Cheers,
Stephan
Quelles jolies petites maisons! Je les irai voir... Merci pour la découverte.
How charming! I love the colours and the variety!
