Zooming

I'm quite satisfied with my now a bit old compact APN Canon G7 (present model on the market is already G12). For the fun of it I did some zooming on Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré (see previous post) the other day - with the column on Place de la Bastille (see previous posts) in the background, on my way home from a very nice lunch with a fellow blogger (PARIS-BISE-ART).

So, despite some modest spring in Paris....
.... I will bring my camera with me to southern France ... and hopefully some real spring signs.

This means that I will be away from blogging for a couple of days. See you in a week! Take care!

Peter, Peter... I loved the sequence of photos, closer and closer. I was also impressed with the weather there in Paris. It looks like I am the only one in the world who is still buried in snow! I can't stand it anymore!
Now you are going South??? I am so jealous! Lost my words! Have fun there and show us the pictures.

I miss those lovely spring flowers like the crocuses - how lovely - here the jacarandas are beginnig to bloom which is also a sure sign of Spring...love your zoomed in architectural shots too - make me want to revisit Paris..

What your zoom has shown me and which I never noticed before is that there are two security cameras on the Bastille column!

For me that kind of street pics would be enough, no need to go anywhere! :)
But seriously I do like street pictures with real, daily, life.
I want more! I want more! of them thank you...
I'm almost coming to Paris... :)

Bonjour Peter,

The first photo is an amazing clear long shot,,, no distortion or blurry distance it looks like a painting ... then I like the way you frame up each shot of a zoomed in focus of a small detail image from the first picture,,, I have to remember to try that with my little canon -- best way to learn how to take interesting pics is to learn from the pros, such as yourself..
Bonne journée!

Lucky guy in Southern France again... ;)) Enjoy!!

PS: The zoom isn't bad, but I hesitated between the Canon and the Lumix because the Lumix had a better zoom...

I instantly recognized the intersection in your second photo.

Have fun wherever you are!

Brilliant zoom, I'm impressed!
When I see how good this is, think what the lumix could do!

Your pictures are so clear and the zoom works great. Are you going to take the TGV to the midi? When I came back from Marseille I tried to take some pictures through the TGV window but it was hard. If you do, tell us how you did it.

It's always so satisfying to experiment and then have good resuls. The yellow crocus is splendid and a welcome harbinger to spring!

Have a wonderful trip! You already have more signs of Spring than we do here. Great pics! Love seeing traffic in Paris and all the different people on the sidewalks.

Enjoy the south! I hope there is better weather for you than when I was there a couple of weeks ago!! *crosses fingers for you*

I think your camera does a more than adequate job, and besides, much as you and I talked about, it is more about the eye behind the camera! You have a fantastic eye.

Still, if you could get a new camera, what would it be?

Be well, Peter, and I hope to connect with you again soon. :)
