During a walk last week, I found all these old legendary Citroën 2CV cars parked outside a hotel … and also some of the drivers. I had seen a few of them around in the city now and then, but not this concentration. I looked up the site. It looks like a nice way to visit the city.
A long time ago I drove a 2CV for a year during a traineeship in southern France. Only good memories!
I took some more photos, which came out like this. My camera is now for repairs.
Some other examples of vehicles, more or less well adapted for driving around Paris ... and parking.

I think the French ability to park on the sidewalk is awesome. In the US you would get a ticket and probably towed away, but in France it seems if there is any bit of room (which there usually is with cars the size of these) you can park. Another quirky thing about France that increases my adoration. Great post!
I can't believe you posted an entry on SUNDAY. The comment above is dated 9 May, I wonder what date mine will have because it is still 8 May here. I considered using the 2CV service, but it's rather expensive.
So I guess I got my answer ^
I drove one years ago...
2CV is a sympathic magical car !
Have a great day !

Thank you, Peter, that was a delightful post. I love the old Citroens. my uncle had one, years ago, and I was always fascinated to watch him start it up, and see it "lift" itself. Very cool!
Charming! In Finland the snow is gone and cars being captured under snow are free :)
they are so charming!
Those cars always make me smile, how fun to see so many of them in a row! I like the Google car, tirelessly swiping the streets. Hope you're camera gets well soon!
Looks like it would be fun to be riding around Paris in one of these.
Great post Peter-thanks!
I had a 2CV years ago-the best, car I have ever had. It did catch fire enroute to Wales on the M54 when the cardboard heater tubes fell ontop of the engine head, but after putting the fire out & with a bit of sticky tape the beauty went on to take me & the family around Wales on a memorable camping holiday!!
I'd love another 2CV-wish Citroen would reintoduce them in a 2011 form like Fiat did with the Fiat 500
I, too, am entranced by the 'Deux Cheveau' and saw many of these 'tourist-magnets' out and about, especially in the 1eme and 4eme. The ability of the Parisien to slot a car sideways into a parking spot gets my attention each and every time.
That Google vehicle looks prehistoric (and invasive) but the maps it produces are a treasure, giving me tne ability to know the appearance of streets from the other side of the world. A friend grew up (1948-1953) in Rue Berlioz in 16eme and, using Google maps, I was able to tell her it is now a gated-community. Great fun!
I love French cars...so funny!
Cute little cars. You can only carry one person and a french baguette in them.
Peter,
We saw those cute cars at the Place des Vosges last summer. I've just now discovered what they are used for as well. Now I can link.... how nice!
Sorry about your camera. I hope you have a back-up. What ever will we do???

you can't drive these uber petite cars here, you just can't. ^0^
it's just too dangerous.
I wish my car looks like this,
it's pretty and chic..
ps: i hope all goes well with your camera. ^0^
Peter, I hope your camera gets well soon!
My grandmother (who didn't learn to drive until she was well into her 60's) drove a Citroen (in Chile they call them Citronetta). It was great fun to ride with her!! Thanks for bringing back sweet memories!!
How fun, Peter! I have to say that every time I watch French TV or a movie, I think of you right there!
love the 2CV - so evocative of France - immediately recognisable and identifiable - great post thanks

Peter, these old Citroën are very charming. My husband loves so much antiques cars.
Great reportage!
dangereuses les 2CV pour les pixels ;)
Heips Peter.
I love 2CV. It maked me nostalgie feeling to see so many "Rättäriä". In Finland you can see only sometimes some 2CV.
We had 4 piece 2CV, and it was really nice to drive. We maked for install a trip to Wien in 2CV-meeting about year 1970-1972 (?). There were 2CV all around the Europe.
Have a nice day. :)
Amazing cars! The most extraordinary trip I had on a 2CV was a lift when hitch-hiking Europe in 1969: Basle to Luxembourg; what a trip... ;)
Wow! What an interesting treat! I seemed to have missed many masterpieces. Good to be back!
