Vacations in Spain - Cordoba

So, I'm back from vacations (although as retired, you may say that I'm always on vacation). First a little visit to Cordoba, the ancient Iberian and Roman city, which in the Middle Ages became the capital of an Islamic caliphate. In the 10th century it was the most populous city in the world. It's perhaps most known for its Great Mosque, now a catholic cathedral, and the old Jewish quarter.

We can listen to Andres Segovia playing Suite Espanola by Albeniz.

I will be back with some visits to other places around Andalusia, but I will be busy the next couple of days, helping my daughter and her partner to move to a new flat.

el calor de Cordoba, de seguro que le seria casi insoportable. Pero tanta belleza morisaca, merece el esfuerzo.

saludos

Hope you enjoyed vastly your stay in Andalusia, Peter, and welcome back!

I have only photos from the Finnish summer in my blog, but since the weather has been heavenly the whole summer, there is plenty of sun to be seen!

It's been so long since I visited Cordoba...
And no digital camera back then so where are my pictures?
I did get to taste way too much olive oil - that I'll never forget.

Indeed, welcome back. ENjoy the moving!! It is back-breaking work. I am doing long stints of grand-daughter-care at the moment. I get home in the evening mentally exhausted. What WILL I do when she starts to question 'Why' to everything.

I guess after the move of your daughter, you will be ready to plan your journey across Russia. I hope you will blog that in real time. Should be fascinating.

Looking forward to more photos and your choice of music to accompany them.

My trip to Spain last September was made with the singular goal to see and photograph La Mezquita, here in Cordoba. The 900+ columns of jasper, onyx, and marble were all that I had imagined.

The music of Segovia is perfectly paired with your photos of this ancient city.

Bon retour, mon ami!

Bises,
Genie

Life is good when you're always out on vacation. haha.
