Sunday dancing

I already posted about Rue Mouffetard (see here), but I needed some US blogger friends to finally bring me there for the weekly dancing that takes place – on Sundays – at the lower end of the street, just in front of the Saint-Médard Church.

The special reason to go there was to accompany Genie (“Paris and Beyond”), who recently – again – visited Paris, this time with her husband, and who wanted to bring a photo to the gentleman who danced with her daughter Holly, when Genie and Holly visited Paris in January. She found the gentleman in question and of course was invited to a dance tour in her turn. The photo of Holly in her wonderful red coat is “stolen” from Genie’s post about the January dancing.

Another blogger friend and frequent visitor to Paris, Virginia (“Paris through my Lens”), also made a post about the January dancing.  It was time I also did a post.

There is a nice mixture of people and one of the leading dancers was the Indian gentleman we can see on the top picture.

Great photos as always, Peter!
I love how you "stitch" the pics together (with a map) to make an essay.

Un plein d'ambiance parisienne... et de quoi sourire. Je me souviens du billet de Virginia sur le sujet. Elle sera jalouse de ta premiere photo... :-)

ha ha ! pas mal !
I very well imagine the scene
have heard from Virginia about the escapades in the rue Mouffetard,
indeed, we need American women like Genie and Virginia to have us (re)discover some of the essential Parisian pleasures!

I haven't danced in a very long time.

Paris is very unique in its seduction to woo so many people from far away places...one has to do as you have done and move there to really take it all in...thanks for sharing with those of us who can't do that.

Hi Peter. I love it around the Rue Mouffetard but didn't know about this dancing. Must check it out next trip.

Ohh I just love these photoes, I can almost hear the music and peoples laughter.
I have never been to a dance in Paris. This must be a "have to do" thing for next time or the next...

At last you see what I've been talking about all these years!! I spot several Parisian and American friends in the mix, but the man with the ROUGE turban is the keeper I think! :)

Thanks for the link Peter, and next time I post more photos from here, I'll of course return the favor.

Your top photo made me think of Virginia and "Paris Rouge". Looks like a fun time/fun place.

What a wonderful post about a great day on Mouffetard. The dancing for me was an unexpected treat, taking a spin to the music with one of the regulars. Thank you (and David) for your photo coverage!

Bises,
Genie
