Normally, a Saturday morning, there should be a market here…
... and no bars
open for a « café-croissant »…
… metro
closed…
… no
traffic …
… shops and
theatres closed… (with one exception).
We were all
well protected. (I had no intention to talk about all this, but I had nothing else "in stock".)
... and, remember, this happens only on Saturdays. You can visit Paris in a normal way Sunday, Monday, Tuesday... and, with a bit of chance, also next Saturday.

Merci Peter for your photos and insight...we are glad to know that you are safe.
One question please - will you explain why the riots are only "permitted" on Saturdays?
Stay safe please and enjoy your holidays with your family!
I've been thinking about you a lot these days, Peter, hoping you were safe. It looks like there has been much damage and destruction which makes me terribly sad. Following this one closely but my question is the same as MadAboutParis -- why just Saturday?
It makes me mad that "demonstrators" do damage to ordinary people's property. Why hurt your neighbor - why not think of better ways of bringing your rightful concerns to the powers that be. Thank you for showing photos of what is happening in "our" Paris. Sad.
Thanks for the insight...
It's sad but thank you for updating us. Thank goodness protests are only allowed on Saturdays.
Stay safe.
Xx
SAD TO SEE THIS ....
Bonjour cher Peter,
A l'aube des fêtes de fin d'année, il est triste de regarder ces photos sans âme...
Nous vivons des moments tous très difficiles. Je suis très bouleversée par toute cette violence...
Gros bisous 🌸
Quelle tristesse.....!
I read this in a comment somewhere, about the Gilet Jaunes. So spot on!
"When people feel powerless they resort to these tactics. I would bet nobody was listening to them until now. At least the protesters aren't killing everyone, like they did long ago, in that - now glamorized - Revolution. Hope the government listens to them. They have pretty reasonable reasons to be angry."
And...I'm wondering now...how inconvenient is it for us to realize it's the Gilet Jaunes Christmas time too?
These are ordinary citizens (the real France?) Unfortunately they have as their president such a namby-pamby son of mommy and daddy, who never knew what is like to go without...
Quelle tristesse !
