Black-and-white photos - number 1

I will have to return to Sweden again for probably about a week or slightly more. This time I will however not completely “close” the blog during my absence. Unfortunately I will not be able to look at or comment on your blogs, but I have prepared some posts.

At the occasion of my second blogging anniversary – and slightly more than 500 posts – I thought I should take the opportunity to please some blogger friends who prefer b&w and who have tried to persuade me to try it also. I’m not really persuaded, but as a compromise I have transformed some of the past two years’ photos to b&w.

Starting as from today, and coming Wednesday, Friday ... and again Monday, you should normally, if the programming works, find these photos by linking to Ipernity; I have split up the file in four. You should be able to see some kind of slideshows. The photos are in complete disorder.

Take care during my absence! See you soon!

Peter, thanks very much for the compromise ;) I believe that B & W pictures are more powerful and imposing in their depth!

Also, do have a wonderful stay!

Warm Regards

Rakesh

A bientôt.

Colour or Black and White? It all depends on the subject of course! With today's digital cameras and software though I take all pictures in colour knowing that I'll be able to transform them into black and white images later. The reverse is much more difficult!

I LOVE your color photos; however, this b&w creates a wonderful mood for the viewer......

When looking at this photo, I feel as though I'm really in Paris......arriving early in the morning and my adrenaline is flowing despite the jet lag....

Merci.

Peter,
Harriet tipped me off that you had something special for us today! She was right. You know from past experience how much I like BW. I also hear Richard chuckling over the fact that you finally gave in! HA I look forward to the slideshows in your absence.

Hope your mom is well. Have a safe trip. We'll try and behave while you're gone.

I enjoy seeing Peter's perspective in B+W. I urge people to go and have a look at the Ipernity stuff if they haven't already. Some exceptional images that show todays Paris, but maybe slightly differently.

B+W is not just a "nostalgia" filter.

In addition, I think some current neuroscience has pointed out (among other curious things) that we do not necessarily "see" everything in colour.

B & W photos are my first love. Coloured ones fade away but B & W don't.

Nice photos, Peter.

Congratulations on your second anniversary Peter. Isn't it amazing how much happened in those two years, the network that was created, the friends that were made, the explorations that took place?

Have a safe trip to Sweden. I hope nothing's wrong up there. Take care.
Love

Nathalie

It is my hope that the quick trip is not a family emergency, Peter. I am glad that you tried B&W. There is something special about it.
