Like a few centuries ago...

When you arrive at the Versailles castle, you are of course received by Louis XIV… and a lot of gold.

A different way to visit the castle is to attend what is offered during the summer months (this year until September 14) under the name “The Royal Serenade”, which takes place in the evenings. This allows you to walk around in a smaller group and to listen to 17th century music, watch dancing and get a feeling that you are a privileged guest to something which happened a few centuries ago.

During the tour I made a couple of days ago, I was impressed by the quality of the performances … and of course by the beauty of royal apartments. (You don’t have to dress up.)

Painted moles, plunging necklines,

red heels...

I'm sure Louis would approve!

Thank you Peter for the fantastic

photography.

I wish I could be there. I read "Paris" by Edward Rutherfurd; he described Versailles and Louis the XIV very well.

Unique et majestueux de recréer l'atmosphère de cette époque dans ce cadre si merveilleux qu'est celui de Versailles...

Tes photos sublimes sont très engageantes et sont une belle invitation à cette visite spectaculaire.

Gros bisous à toi.

I would love to attend the masquerade one year, just for fun! I read about it before I moved home - some other time... It looks great!

On ne se lasse pas de visiter ce merveilleux endroit. Les jardins seraient plus beaux et plus dans l'époque s'il n'y avait pas ces sculptures affreuses.

that sure is a lot of gold - are you celebrating La Fete de la Musique tomorrow night or is it just a tradition down here in the South??

Thank you for this Peter, I just love Versailles and visit every time we are in Paris. I have never heard of this..... is it new this year?
We shall be coming over next April so I guess I will miss it if they do this next year.
Thank you so much for all the information you send about this wonderful city.

Glorious! Rick mentioned that you were going to be doing something at Versailles related to music. But what a visual feast as well! Looks like an amazing time. Next time in Paris, Versailles. My list is getting longer!

Evidemment, le palais de l'Elysée, à coté de ça, cela fait un peu tarte.
