A new(ly opened) little park.

A little green space, on the riverside of the “Hôtel de Ville” (Town Hall) has recently been opened to the public, at least on weekends. It was once some kind of private garden for the Paris mayor, now used as a day nursery for a couple of years – and still so during the weekdays.

This gives you the possibility to get a view from the back of the statue of Etienne Marcel (1302/10-1358), provost of the merchants of Paris and involved in a lot of conflicts with different branches of the Royalty during the “Hundred Years’ War”, somehow considered to be the first mayor of Paris.

Some night shots of the “Hôtel de Ville”. Behind the legs of Etienne Marcel’s horse, I could see that the reception rooms obviously were occupied. I have had the opportunity to see the same rooms from the inside – see my post here. I also noticed that on the large open space in front of the Town Hall there are now tables and chairs available.
