Flags... or other solutions.

Normally, the French flag is supposed to decorate only public buildings. However, in order to honour the victims of the November 13 terrorist attack, people were last week encouraged to “show the colours”. Here are some samples from windows in my home area. It was not always possible to find a flag and many people improvised other blue-white-red solutions…

I am used to seeing many US flags around here, year round, but have never seen many in Paris, or other cities of Europe for that matter. My schools in Paris had one I think. It must be so different to see so many flags, and other tricolor in Paris right now. Thinking of it, if I go back in my memory, way back, I kind of recall many French flags at the Liberation of Paris on August 25, 1944, when I was 4 years old and my mother made me walk with her all over Paris – but that was also a special day I guess.

Pwetty towels, Ria!

So said a cute 2 year old I was babysitting when I showed her your photos.
Next time I'll try to teach her how to sing C'est la mère Michel qui a perdu son chat...in the language of the beautiful nation those flags represent.

Pwetty post, M.Peter.
Mil gracias.

It's good to see all this positive sentiment shown. I especially like the red, white and blue T-shirts!

The Tshirts pegged on the line are very innovative, love the idea. If you don't happen to have a flag handy.... improvise!
