Saturday was summer solstice and also, for the 27th time, "Fête de la Musique", now obviously known as “World Music Day”. It started in France in 1982 and is now spread to some 100 countries.
Concerts, for free, are given all over the city. Last year I made the tour to the more frequented places where the most renowned artists were performing and where most people go (see post). This year I decided to stay around the area where I live. However, early afternoon I passed in front of the home of our President, the Elysée Palace; and I realised that there was music inside, in the inner court, and that public was let in, exceptionally. When I arrived, the “Garde Républicain” just finished their part and some soft piano music took over. To my additional surprise, Nicolas and Carla, who were hosts, took a walk to meet the people. As expected, all the professional photographers were in the front line, but at the end they come up close to where I stood.

Later in the afternoon and until 3 Sunday morning I was back to “Batignolles” where I live. The weather was perfect, there were concerts all over, the streets and the cafés were jammed.
Normally, I will be back with a post Wednesday!

A mercredi Monsieur Paparazzi
Yes, that's right, we're celebrating the festival as well, but it's not so popular here in China, just celebrated among few young people in those night bars.
I really didn't know it's originated in France.
Yes, in India even kids were doing their bits.
WOW !You met the president and the first lady. She's lovely.
But I must admit that the rest of your photos makes me envy you more. It seems to have been a real feast all over town.
hahaaa Peter you are a paparazzi, Sarko, Bruni...
This Music Day i been in home, here in Madrid was very hot for me.
Yes Summer it´s here to stay snif
Salut! (Je ne fais que passer en vitesse)
Wow !
I am impressed.
Thanks for your visit to my blog this morning. I hope you enjoyed my post today.
I enjoyed reading your blog post for today and I thought the photography was good too. I don't think I have ever seen a country's president on a blog when the photo was taken by the blog owner. Nice work, Peter.
And I wanted you to know I was here. Kind of like "Kilroy" was here...remember those drawings everyone used to make?
Looks nice.
Here it's only raining and raining and raining and no music is heard.
whoa ... hahahaha .. very nice. happy music day to you :-)
Must be delighted to meet the President rite? Regardless who and enjoy your time.
Oh, that's great for a blogger to be able to take some photos of the president. Well done, Peter.
Bonjour Peter!
I've been away on an adventure in England for the past 3 weeks, so I haven't been able to read your blog. But now I have some time... because it's raining outside and I don't want to go out to get wet, so I am r4eading all the blogs I have missed.
I enjoyed the photos of Paloma and Mattias' concert, what wonderful artists are in their school. I loved the pictures!
Wow! Great photo reportage, Peter! Well done! Sounds you had a nice time!
Woow, what a special day!
And your job is perfect! Your photos showed this splendor and atmosphere.
Best to you Peter!

Ahhhh....the Carla Effect. Even NYTimes did an article about her this weekend. She is probably one of the most beautiful women in the world. And a smart one too.
I remember Carla Bruni when she was just a model walking the runways for YSL and Chanel.

joann:
NS must have some hidden qualities!?
ash:
I looked for them; they were not in my street! Maybe in Cardiff? :-)
cergie:
A tout à l'heure!
deslilas:
Content de te retrouver ici. Je vais aller te "voir" aussi!
peter,
about NS; right hidden Q for sure, we'LL never find out!
Congratulations, Mr. Paparazzi! Not too many have photos of that couple on their hard drive. :D
