This is again
a little extra post to follow the local events of the moment. The “real post”
is just below this one.
I wasn’t
with the crowd to watch the arrival yesterday of the “Tour de France” on the Champs
Elysées (but of course saw it on television). The participants arrive along the
Seine and then make a number of tours up and down the Champs Elysées and around
the Tuileries Gardens. A few hours later, the dismantling and the cleaning were
well under way. In the meantime, it was possible to make a walk in the middle
of the avenue.
Leaving, I took
a few photos of the rather recently refurbished gate of the back entrance to
the Elysée Palace, just behind where the bikers arrive.

It was a great race and I was very pleased with the way it finished.
j'aime beaucoup les photos "reportage" de l'apres tour, et oui apres la fete il faut tout nettoyer
Well you certainly made up for it with you neat behind the scenes photos! :)

L'Angleterre a l'honneur sur les Champs!
Encore une fois de bien belles grilles.
That looked like India in the first look!
Very beautiful the gate.
I´d like to be there. :)
Regards,Pete.
Glad you showed this -- I must make sure Rick sees it! Was thinking about you yesterday as they came into Paris and wondered if you were watching on telly or in person!
Well, I watched three weeks of fabulous coverage and I am always thrilled as they ride into Paris. The views from the helicopters give us an interesting perspective. I love being able to recognize the corner where we cross from Rue St Roch into the Tuileries, to see Palais Royal, la Madeleine, Hôtel Crillon again and again as they circle past so many times.
Bises,

*** Hey...are you going to Italy? You might visit Brazil someday as well! ;)
darn, we don't have a french channel here and to watch it in live stream would take forever~!( slow internet speed...) :(
thanks for the photos Peter.
