Blue!

Michou is a personality, always dressed in blue. You have a great chance meeting him in or on the terrace of one of his favourite bars during a stroll around Montmartre, his “kingdom”.

Michou, now 82 (almost 83), has been running a successful drag queen cabaret in Montmartre since some 50 years. Last weekend, the City of Paris had organised some festivities in his honour.

People who were there to celebrate him were of course asked to wear something blue (I had a blue scarf).

The official meeting place was in the little park, Square Jean-Rictus, where you can find the “I-love-you”-wall (see previous post)…

… but you could also (of course) find him in some of the neighbour bars.

A special look on his car, the now probably 60 years’ old Citroën, nicely decorated.

Wonderful! Love this story and your photographs, Peter. He sure doesn't look 82!

I remember that the "I Love You" wall was the first thing you showed us after Rick and I left the metro! He's in good shape. You know, that's what I love about Paris. You just wouldn't see people in most of America celebrating a guy who ran a drag queen cabaret for 50 years. Maybe NY or San Francisco, but overall, there would be conservative picketers. That's pretty neat.

Michou is very much appreciated in Montmartre. Once a month, he organizes e free "diner-spectacle" (dinner and show) for the elderly people of the Butte-Montmartre.

!!

And what shade of blue was that scarf you wore, M. Peter? The shade of your eyes, perhaps? :o)

Greetings from my tropical paradise.
I see it's stil cold in that fabled city!
