Under the
typical designed Guimard metro entrance on Île de la Cité, the design looks
different from most other Paris metro stations. The Cité station was opened in
1910. It’s on line 4, which was the first one to offer an underwater crossing
of the Seine. (You can read more about
the line and the spectacular underwater work here.)
On Ïle de la Cité,, with its many famous landmarks, this is the only metro station.
I have not
been able to find anything about the design, the architect(s) involved…

Rigolos, ces dessous d'escaliers peints en rouge! Et les parois métalliques donnent à la station un petit air de bathyscaphe...

That metro station is a stunning, peculiar piece of architecture. I've always loved it.
An Italian, living in Italy but desperately in love with Paris.
Uh I regret to inform you that it is illegal to take photos in the metro! :)

There's some architectural information on the Cite metro (designed by Hector Guimard) here, which is interesting: https://www.khanacademy.org/humanities/becoming-modern/symbolism/v/hector-guimard-cit-entrance-paris-m-tropolitain-c-1900
The place looks huge! And those stairs are endless...
Love the red and grey colors.
Thank you
Maria
