On an
experimental basis, Paris is trying to introduce sheep to replace lawnmowers. Maybe we will one day see them elsewhere, but
to my knowledge the test is for the moment limited to the lawns surrounding the
Paris Archives building in the east of Paris, close to Porte des Lilas.
The sheep I
found are in my opinion not the most photogenic ones, would obviously need a “haircut”
… and they are lazy! I had to wait for about an hour to finally see some of
them stand up for about half a minute before again returning to their siesta. …
and they were definitely not interested
to come close to the photographer. Anyhow…
The Paris
Archives (where you can find some 75 km – 45 miles - of documents about Paris
and its inhabitants – whatever is left after Revolutions, fires…)...
... seem to have a very ecological attitude. I found an “insect hotel” (there are quite a few of them around Paris) – the only insect I found was a vulgar fly -, a lot of flowers, an apple tree… (The photos were taken some three weeks ago in a nice spring weather).
The area
around Porte des Lilas is quite interesting with a mixture of old and modern.
The new tram line is following the boulevards. We can see the “Notre-Dame-de-Fatima-Marie-Médiatrice”
church (from 1954), committed to the Paris Portuguese community, more or less
surrounded by the Robert-Debré children’s hospital (from 1988).

Quite wonderful, Peter. I don't know that you and I agree about the photogenic quality of those sheep! I think they're charming and with lovely wool!
La tête qu'ils font vient peut-être de " l'herbe" qu'ils ont brouté...
Hi Peter , they have or had sheep in Parc du Sceaux in the suburbs. Another interesting area of Paris to see , thanks for the brilliant post as usual . Always more for me to put on my list , and a day out with my friends.
The color of chocolate is always very atractive, don't you think?
Lindas fotos...como siempre, M. Peter.
Mil gracias.
María
Bonjour cher Peter,
Gros bisous ♡
Your photos are great, Peter!!! I loved your post - glad to see the sheep doing the lawns, and am amazed to see the "insect hotel" :) :)
Thank you so much for the fun posting!!!
C'est rare de voir autant de moutons noirs en même temps.
Quand on a un peu de terrain, les moutons c'est au poil, si je puis dire, pour couper l'herbe, c'est pour ça que je fus bergère dans ma première vie. C'est épatonte !
