Cours Damoye

I already made a post about the little passage “Cours Damoye” some five years ago (see here), but the other day, when I was at Place de la Bastille (see previous posts here), I could not resist taking some night shots. It’s so amazing to find the entrance to this little alley between two cafés, then to leave the always busy Place de la Bastille…

…and find absolute calm. The buildings here which used to be workshops for furniture craftsmen and others are some hundred or two hundred years old. Although the craftsmen are gone, replaced by architects, galleries… you still have the feeling of entering another century. In the evening hours, the little “brûlerie” (coffee-roasting shop) is unfortunately closed.

I love the night shots, Peter, they are wonderful. What an exquisite, quiet little oasis amidst the bustle of Paris.

What does heaven smell like? Like coffee, duh.

The romantic feeling of this place is overwhelming...
Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

I smiled when you said it was like being in another country because for me, every encounter in Paris is like being (and actually IS) in another country! This is lovely!

The beauty of the subject matter of these photos is so very transcendent of time.

Everyone, please turn off your cell phones!
