Another extra post

I had planned to make a break until after New Year, but I decided to make this small "extra post".

December 25, after a long and nice Christmas meal at my son’s place, I decided that it would make me good to walk home.

It was clear night and on the sky I could clearly see Venus as an evening star. I zoomed as much as I could with my compact camera (Canon G7). This is what I got. Anyhow it allowed me to see more than with my eyes only.

Also, I could not avoid taking what probably will be my last shots of the blue Eiffel Tower (already present in several posts) as the French presidency of the European Union will cease December 31 and the Tower then will regain its normal looks. I have already wished you Happy New Year (see previous post), but it's a pleasure to repeat my wishes.

Normally, I should be back to normal blogging next Friday (January 2).

I have rarely seen Venus that close, or at least I didn't know it was "her"!!
I wish they would keep the blue lights I like it better!
Thank you for those last shots of THE tower.

Great shots Peter! Out here in India, we get to see Venus every evening as the brightest object in the sky!

The tower looks brilliant too!

Wishes for a very warm and prosperous new year!

Cheers

Rakesh

Ah, so it is possible to see stars and planets in the night sky in Paris!

Malgré tout, on voit plus d'étoiles sur Madame Eiffel que dans le ciel.

Interesting remark made by Adam. You could have thought that too much street light would have killed any chance to watch the star. On that topic I recommend your visitors visit Adam's blog for his great post about the "anti-neon clan" who go on night-time expeditions turning off neon lights around the streets of Paris. It's fun and insightful.

Beautiful blues on the Eiffel Tower.

And belatedly, how I loved seeing photos of little Paloma as a ballerina. She's cute as can be.

Peter I do hope you manage to take pictures of frozen fountains around Paris today - it should be spectacular. Just stay warm!

So we cannot get enough of the blue Eiffel tower as it's the last time that we can see it like that.

wow, interesting shots and a really rare look.

It's good we have you to show us what the Eiffel Tower will look like in the new year, when "she" takes off her blue dress...

Happy New Year !

I think I saw the same star when leaving work this evening. It is quite bright in the sky.

Dear Peter, my good and loyal blogger friend! You have given me great pleasure this year with your many posts and excellent commentary. My wish for you for 2009 is good health and much happiness. May our troubled world achieve peace with the elimination of world hunger. Then we can be pleased to hand over our lives and mother earth to our beautiful grandchildren and their parents!!
