I already
posted, soon six years ago (see here), about the Flower Market on Ile de la
Cité, close to Notre Dame…
... and once more, soon two years ago (see here), when Queen Elizabeth visited it and it was renamed “Marché aux Fleurs Elizabeth II”.
Well, on
Sundays this market place becomes – also - a bird market.
You find of
course also all you need to keep the birds in good shape… although of course
imprisoned.

That first photo of the enchanting couple! Irresistible! Also, that hexagonal bird feeder had me at hello! I would paint it a bright red, a color that attracts birds.
My favorite are those divine parakeets. I see them in all colors, all the time when I visit my birth country. They were free, of course and very noisy. They love to have breakfast, very early in the morning, wreaking havoc in those generous palm trees with their hanging fruits. Because they don't like the seeds of the fruits, they plop plop plop drop them on the ground. If you happen to have a swimming pool near these trees, they get full of the seeds they drop.......
The Flower Market was my mother's favorite place to visit on Sundays, while in Paris. She came to France twice a year with a very good reason: to see her beautiful Parisian grandchildren. Her French was flawless. As a former opera singer she could easily command five languages. No big deal there...most opera singers do...
I love this sweet post, Peter. Another lovely tour. Thank you so much!

J'ai eu quelques oiseaux en cage, mais maintenant je préfère les voir dans mon jardin en liberté.
I have a slightly ambivalent opinion on birds (and other animals, for that matter) in cages, but I think this bird market is such an interesting curiosity, and I do love their pretty colours!
What a beautiful sight ... but still, I would prefer to see them out of the cages. Peter, thatnk you for another good post!!
