Not quite "normal".

I will make a little break in my series of the Montmartre Cemetery tombs. (There is more to come.) I just thought I must show you what “my” little park looked like last Wednesday, not the way it normally should look like even in December, but somehow nice!

For safety reasons, the Paris parks are closed when there is snowfall or heavy winds. I managed to slip in just when they were going to close the gates.

I hope that these winter pictures will not frighten you; Paris is still nice to live in and to visit!
Please note that all these pictures are in colour, not always obvious, except if you notice the umbrellas of two ladies.
As a comparison, you may look at more colourful photos on previous posts from the same park, Square des Batignolles.

A man was sweeping the alley I used to get back home. I don’t know how useful it was; the snowfall was not finished.
I wish you a nice weekend!

I stay in a place where it never snows and so these pictures look like some kind of magical world...great pictures...and like Mystica asked, what happens to the ducks?

Snow falling in Paris looks beautiful, I really liked the umbrella ladies, it looks like an artist painting, intentionally black and white except for the spot of red. Thanks for sharing, it is a nice break from the series. Please visit and comment my blog if you can, last one was also about changes of seasons

I read about the snow causing much havoc to transport but looking at all your photos I think it is beautiful :D

Beautiful snow shots, Peter, and you can really see it dropping heavily from the skies! Without the little glimpses of green on the trees and a bit of color in the umbrellas, it would be a black and white shot.

Holly (and John) were out this way yesterday for her birthday lunch and then to La Tour Eiffel for photos...

Stay warm!

Beautiful--from afar. Ten years of Minnesota winters cured me a long time ago.

"Not quite normal" ? This is so far from normal no one knows what to say or think... Well, it is supposed to warm up a bit in coming days... guess we will see what the rest of the winter holds in store for us... What a nightmare the roads were yesterday ! Glad you were able to have a nice peaceful stroll in the snowy park...

CDG airport was closed all afternoon... what a mess!!!

I'm wondering, why do they close the parks? From Finnish point of view, it seems strange.

In Helsinki 50 cm snow...

Magda Machnicka said...

Yes, but you need to shovel the snow regularly, otherwise it becomes dense and heavy, what makes it hard to cope with.

I think this is the most beautiful Paris I could ever seen :-) Thank you!

C'est beau Paris sous la neige (oui je sais c'est aussi un peu chiant), mais c'est beau. Les oies du Canada sont à la fête, elles !

wow, Paris looks like Quebec, kind of! I love to see Paris covered in snow, it looks so magical.

Je n'aime pas la neige, mais à Paris il est beau.

The last photo is magnificent. Framed perfectly and showing how futile our attempts to control natural events are!

It's quite charming - more winter photos on my blog, but not from Paris.

The snow photos are very remarkable, esp. for Paris. I particularly enjoyed the snaps with the red umbrella in them. Did you make a snowman?

Paris is even more beautiful in the snow! But pretty hard to get around I would think.

Oh gosh poor ducks there!
Amazing pictures Peter, thanks for sharing!
Here in Luxembourg was the "chaos" as well, I went to school last Wednesday however
I didn't have classes because of the snow storm!
As all streets of the capital were totally iced the only way that I managed to get home was walking for more than 2 hours!
I need to confess that I was terrified!
Stay warm okay!
hugs
Léia

Thank you so much for posting these pictures! I've been reading about the snow in the news for the past few days. I know that it must be difficult to walk around in the cold and all that, but for me, I hope the snow is still there when I visit in two weeks!

Since I've lived in Nebraska (USA) all my life, I'm a bit amused by all the excitement over what looks to me like a very small amount of snow, indeed. Last winter there was 0.5 meter of snow on my yard from October through March...I guess it's all about what you're used to. Lovely photos! Thanks for sharing!

They are beautiful pictures, Peter!
My world looks a lot black and white, too! We had some snow overnight and a storm is predicted to come on Sunday.
Take care!

I think that's a hilarious picture of the guy shoveling snow while it's still coming down.

Okay, enough is enough. That's twice in a row I typed in the correct word verification and twice it denied me. So, until you no longer have wv, I will not be leaving any more comments.

Oh I think it's just parfait! YOUR parc is a delight winter and summer. Thanks for sharing and risking a fall to give us this peek at yet another Paris snowfall. Genie tipped us off to the fact that it was trés belle! You proved it. i"m not getting my hopes up for my visit. I think if you've been blessed with one Paris snowfall you should be very grateful. Well...... I am , but.....I'd like just one more! :)

Bon weekend Peter!

I don’t remember seeing so much snow in Paris in early December. Your pictures are stunning and give a good idea of the beauty there. I love the first photo in the park.

Peter, you have one hell of an eye when framing a photo. These snow shots are superb! How beautiful it all is and you as a Swede won't mind the cold at all!

Peter, i saw in the news that France was reeling under cold wave, and i thought of you!

The sights , although beautiful, also show how hard life can get in that kind of weather!

There are all kinds of parks in the United States, and a lot of them have those adorable ducks! But I noticed that in the more shall I say "upscale" ones, there are signs all over the place asking you not to feed the ducks. One day I was walking in my favorite park with this friend and I asked him: What's wrong with feeding them? and he said if you feed them they think they don't have to leave like other birds do when summer is over. Does this make sense to any of you? Is this true, or was my friend pulling my leg? Peter, this post is lovely! Since this is my kind of weather it looks very normal to me. Maria O. Russell
