The 15th of the month is a special day, the day for the mid-month theme - “subways” which I share with bloggers in NYC and Stockholm. This month’s team is “subway car interior”.

The train you can see here runs on line number 14, the most recent of the Paris metro lines. It was partly opened in 1998 and is complete only since last year. It connects among other things two major rail stations, Gare St. Lazare and Gare de Lyon. The distance between the stations is greater than on other metro lines and the speed is about the double. It's all automatic - no personnel onboard - and this was the only line running normally during the last Paris transport strike. It has worked perfectly since the inauguration.
